At Bella Vista High, we have more than 60 clubs on campus. It’s hard to keep track of everything as it’s all happening at once! We handpicked a few clubs to spotlight for now as clubs get active for the 2026-27 school year. So, what’s really poppin’ this month as they get started?

BV Interact Club is an example of a club that has existed for many years and has enjoyed a lot of success, and there are many new clubs this year trying to start their own legacy.
BV Interact Club is an example of a club that has existed for many years and has enjoyed a lot of success, and there are many new clubs this year trying to start their own legacy.

Lucy Bach and Sonja Roderick had a lot to say about their club Young Life. They played games all lunch period at their first meeting. Lucy Bach ‘28 shared that they played a charades game, ate pizza, and did an icebreaker introduction game. When asked what could have gone better, Lucy shared, “[The office] wouldn’t let the volunteer in, we had to get him in. [The office] hadn't cleared him properly yet.” Co-President Sonja Roderick ‘28 mused that they could work on time management in order to fit more activities into the 30-minute lunch break. Despite the initial hurdles, their first meeting was a success! Sonja is excited for Young Life’s next meeting, and Lucy is thrilled to plan their Young Life fire pit event in November. Young Life Club meets in C4 every Tuesday at lunch.

Sofia Parmenter ‘28 shared valuable insight from H.E.R. BVHS’s Chapter. H.E.R. is an organization that works to add more about women to high school curriculums and education. Bella Vista is a new addition to H.E.R.! When asked about the turnout, she shared that “it was really good. Everyone was there. They paid attention and were interested in bettering and helping with the club.” She thinks that they can work on “being more organized because our president forgot to write the introduction today and we were kind of . . . winging it.” Sofia reported that H.E.R. had a booth at a recital in July and were able to collect a bunch of donations for the club! Sounds like fun! H.E.R. BVHS’s Chapter meets every 2-3 weeks on Wednesdays in A2. Stop by and support women’s suffrage in the form of education!

Rayyan Imbabi ‘28 told us all about BSU (Black Student Union) here at BV. At their first meeting, she reported that lots of students showed up, had questions, and were very excited to get involved. She feels people were able to come together as a community thanks to all the icebreaker activities and good conversations going on in the room. What’s BSU planning next? Rayyan shares, “we are planning a trip downtown and a yearly renaissance day.” The renaissance day will include a variety of Black business, vendors, and artists gathering at BV for a community event! Additionally, BSU would like to see some new faces. Club recruiting is hard, believe it! All of the officers in BSU are seniors, and they’d like to see some underclassmen getting involved. Pop by if you can! BSU meets in room D1 every other Friday.

Arwyn Perry ‘28 and Andrew Slaughter ‘27 told me all about their brand new fitness club called Ripped Revolution. Arwyn was excited to report that there were so many people at their first meeting that they ran out of chairs! Andrew shared how everyone was asking questions and getting involved. They think that they could work on communication first and foremost. Andrew and Arwyn are excited to watch everyone improve together throughout the year! Ripped Revolution meets on the first Monday of every month in C8.

From the board of Multicultural Club, Alina Carranza ‘29 gave us news about her new club. They got about 20 people at their first meeting, where they all shared Mexican food. At their next meeting, they plan to sample Korean cuisine! Alina is excited for their next meeting, and understandably so! If you’d like to sample delicious dishes, you’ll be happy here. Multicultural Club meets every Wednesday in A5.

Did you know we have a club for playing badminton here on campus? Sonali Sankar ‘28 told me all about it! Unsurprisingly, it’s called Badminton Club. Everyone who signed up came to their first meeting, and she reported that they even got to play a little bit. Sonali is proud of how the culture was already comfortable; “I think everyone there [was] so chill and respectful. They paid attention to the rules. They enjoyed playing.” How awesome is that! Badminton Club is planning on organizing tournaments within the club and awarding winners. If you’d like to score a nice prize by bopping birdies around, or just play for fun, Badminton Club meets in the large gym during lunch on Wednesdays.

Our Japanese Club got started for the year, and Hannah Kaganovich gave us the sweet details. Hannah explained that, “[Our first meeting] was incredible. We had about forty students show up–especially crazy ‘cause the classroom was only meant for 36!” She admits that they could plan the meetings further in advance, which would help them get materials organized. And they have exciting events coming up! Very excitedly, she told me, “[At] our next meeting we’re going to be having Onigiri Action, which is a program that both expands peoples’ knowledge of Japanese culture through making rice balls and funds the elimination of world hunger. Every time somebody makes a rice ball and takes a picture with it, the program can provide a meal to a starving child.” Otherwise, the club does lots of activities, including crane folding. Japanese Club meets every Monday in B13!

It has been amazing to see all of these new and existing clubs get started this school year! Congratulations on a very successful opening to the school year!
